More than 90 volunteers spend countless hours preparing for this annual black tie event, which introduces young professionals to philanthropic fundraising. This year as we mark the 10th anniversary of the Starlight Gala, we would be delighted for you to join us in the fight against cancer by committing to one of the underwriting opportunities available. More than 81,500 Texans will be diagnosed with cancer in the next year. This disease also touches many Houstonians. The American Cancer Society is dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem and providing services for patients and their families. Funds raised at the 10th Annual Starlight Gala on April 2nd, 2005 will remain in the Houston area to meet the needs of our families, friends, and neighbors. Each day in Texas, the American Cancer Society provides: $56,164 in research grants funded at Texas institutions   8 early detection and 9 prevention programs containing educational messages   53 cancer patients with various services through local programs   16 free hotel rooms to cancer patients traveling out-of-town for treatments To ensure the success of the American Cancer Society’s vision to eradicate cancer, we look to individuals and businesses in the Houston community to underwrite the Starlight Gala.
